near South Chesapeake Mega Yacht Center
Cape Charles was established at the turn of the century as a railroad
and ferry town. The historic downtown provides amenities including hotels,
restaurants, residential areas, and retail within walking distance of
the working harbor and South Chesapeake Mega Yacht Center.
Virginia’s Eastern Shore offers some of the best environmental sports,
bird watching and fishing in the U.S. It is home to three notable beaches,
including Cape Charles Beach and Kiptopeke State Park. The Eastern Shore
is connected to the mainland via the 17.6-mile Chesapeake
Bay Bridge Tunnel, which dissects the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake
Bay. The mainland provides immediate access to the oceanfront resort
area of Virginia Beach and the commercial center of downtown Norfolk.
Two of the major attractions on the Eastern Shore are the sister islands
of Assateague and Chincoteague.
Chincoteague is home to a national wildlife refuge, and Assateague offers
expansive beaches with wild ponies and miles of hiking trails.
Charming towns, scenic roads, quaint restaurants, art galleries, antique
shops, and every water-based recreational activity available enhance the
natural beauty of the Eastern Shore. It’s a place to relax and explore,
with hundreds of miles of shoreline on the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic
Ocean.
